149 days of No Television. So far so good
It has been 149 days of No Television for me i.e. I haven’t watched television for 4 months, 29 days. My new year resolution was to stop watching TV. So far so good. I plan on keeping my resolution. I no longer have the urge to watch TV.
So what do I with all the free time? Well now I have more time for riding my bike and working out at the gym. Which I do regularly.
Also, since the beginning of this year I have read 17 books. That is almost 1 book per week. I think I have read every book and essay by Justice Scalia. I have also read all the books by Justice Frankfurter that are available at Santa Clara Library and the Martin Luther King Library in San Jose, CA.
Right now, I am reading the biography of Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes by White. An excellent book.
I plan to finish at least 50 books by year end. Wish me luck!
Dear Saqib Ali,
You are not missing a thing – TV is a waste of time.
Now, if you gave up the internet, that would be a hardship….
Best wishes,
Mike

No resolution here, just disgusted with the whole Hellywood thing. All the lies, revision of history, far left view point (sunset @ 7:57 is Bush’s fault), Liberal hate & ads intended to convince me I am not happy, so must buy things.
December 2007, my last month of TV, marriage, cat cohabitation & land owning. 17 months later, I miss Sade the Siamese cat & Stargate program. One of 2 TVs is still used for DVDs, one or less per week. I could have the USB HDTV tuner driving this 1920 X 1200 screen in a few seconds. It worked last when installed in March. Not since, no desire to use it.
Downside is too frequently looking at what people are doing (me too), wondering if they really want to do it (have, wear, tattoo, drink, eat, travel) or are just trying to fit into the culture of the one eyed monster.
2 books per week now & wondering how I ever quit reading books 23 years ago.
